
Dan Shen (党参) also known as red sage has been used extensively in Chinese medicine for many years. It is well known as a super food or herb used for numerous ailments including the improvement of cardiovascular health and better circulation. Dan Shen Tea党参茶 is commonly brewed for mothers during confinement period and it taste naturally sweet with red dates, longan and wolfberries.
Benefits: This tea helps to replenish Qi, promotes blood circulation, improves kidneys and lungs and reduces hypertension

Ingredients:
- 200g dan shen (cut into slices about 1.5 inch length)
- 1 tbsp of wolfberries
- 5-6 dried longan
- 1 litre of water
Directions:
1) Wash dan shen. Put together with wolfberries and dried longan into a pot. I use a glass pot.
2) Combine all ingredients and water to a pot and bring it into a boil.
3) Let it simmer for about 20 minutes on low heat.
You can then pour it into a thermos flask to keep warm throughout the day. Enjoy this naturally sweet drink!
