IKEA is running a drawing competition for the second year – The IKEA Soft Toy Competition. I was shopping with my daughter when I saw their poster promoting at Tampines IKEA store.

What’s so cool about this competition is that 10 dream soft toy drawings will be selected in each country around the world with IKEA stores. These drawings will be sent to Älmhult where IKEA products are created, and judged by a panel of children’s product development specialists.

Winners will be selected based on the uniqueness and commercial potential, and real toys will be created and launched as limited collection in late 2017 in the IKEA stores worldwide. Find out the full details from IKEA.

Personally, I love this concept. Kids get to develop their creativity and have fun participating. Parents can share the concept and explain to their kid before heading down to take part. That will help your kid to start thinking what he wants to draw for submission. Parents can take this opportunity to educate their children on planning, preparation and sense of participation.

Whether or not your child’s drawing is selected as the winner for Singapore, your child will feel a sense of achievement and enjoy the time you spent with him doing this activity. Importantly, he is having fun learning!

For every soft toy sold during the campaign period, IKEA Foundation donates 1 Euro to UNICEF and Save The Children Foundation. I took this opportunity to share with my daughter about charity, and how we can help other children living in poverty to create a better future for themselves. She asked me if I could buy her all the 10 winners soft toys collection from previous year and help those children. How can I say no to her?

Father of a 7 years old daughter. A hands-on dad since the birth of my child. I believe in educating a child as early as we can. Through this way, it will help shape the child’s characters and beliefs as she/he grows up. There are various ways we can make education more interesting and get the children motivated to learn. That’s also me being a kiasu parent.
